MobileBytes Labor Cost Reporting

MobileBytes POS now supports reporting of labor cost into categories. This allows restaurants to track labor separately for people working in broad categories. A simple example would be FOH and BOH. In the MB POS backend under locations, you’ll see a new “Labor Categories” option. This is where you create categories and assign job types. You can also assign a fixed cost value to account for salaried managers.

In the Labor Summary report, you’ll now see your labor reported by category.

How Is a Chip Card used at POS

During the transition to chip, customers are being told to swipe their card as they normally would and follow the prompts. If the terminal is chip-enabled, it will prompt them to insert it instead. If you have chip-enabled terminals and you see that your customer has a chip card, you can tell them to insert their card for a chip transaction. These basic steps will help your customers pay successfully in your store:

  • The customer should insert their card with chip toward terminal, facing up. The chip card should not be removed until the customer is prompted.
  • The customer will provide their signature or PIN as prompted by the terminal. Some transactions may not require either.
  • When the terminal says the transaction is complete, the customer can remove their card.
  • If the customer has questions, remind them to follow the prompts on the terminal and leave their card inserted until prompted to remove.

“I swore I would never work in the family business. But in retrospect, it was great because I got to work with my dad,” said Brad Holaway, who, in 1985, joined the company his father Roy Holaway started in 1969. “As you get older, you appreciate things like that.”

Brad Holaway purchased Copperstate with his brother-in-law and company vice president Tom Francis from his father in 1999. What started as a service and sales business for many industries has evolved into a full-service POS, or point of sale, company dedicated to the restaurant industry….Read More
